PARATISSIMA FACTORY - II Ciclo - Turin - 2022

Paratissima is much more than a place or a series of events, it is a reality that works and collaborates with and for artists.

Paratissima Factory takes care of organizing some cycles of art residency lasting about three months for groups of artists specially selected on the basis of their portfolio.

Everyone is provided with a studio in which to work on their own project. At the end of this period a final exhibition is organized where each artist will have his own personal space in which to present the works produced.

I have participated in several group exhibitions and art competitions, however this was the first experience of an Art Residence. The aim was to create an artistic project starting from an idea on which you wanted to work with pre-established deadlines.

I felt a certain responsibility, nevertheless I was very excited about it.

In the II Cycle of the Residence we were six artists and the curator Cristina Meli, selected by the Curatorial Board of Paratissima who had the task of following us on our projects and writing the critical text.

Each of the artists was free to be able to carry out his own project according to the medium he preferred most, transforming the studio into a space for painting, photography, video, installation, etc.

Below are some photos and videos of the studio and backstage of the artworks produced.

At the end of the three months of work everything was completed. The shots were taken between Piedmont and Umbria, this is because some locations and materials for the success of the idea had characteristics that I could make the most of only in some places and not in others.

For example, for the first artwork I took the photos in the Diocesan Library of the Episcopal Seminary of Biella. Other photos were taken in Castelluccio di Norcia due to the sea of fog. Still others on the Gran Paradiso National Park. I explored the various territories and selected the best material from the shots to build my artworks.

At the end of the process, we all reached the stage of setting up the final exhibition which was carried out in synergy between us artists and the curator Cristina Meli.

This was a big job that required a lot of sacrifice, both in terms of time and costs. In fact, I had to personally cover all the expenses: production, printing of the artworks and accommodation. Instead, the study to be used to work was free.

Apart from this negative side I am really happy to have participated, because this experience has given me the opportunity to dedicate myself to what I love.

I made more works than I had in mind.

Personally I think there is no stronger emotion than the one I feel when I see people reflecting themselves in my works, in my ideas, feeling those same emotions that moved me to produce it.

Turin is an extraordinary showcase for art and this was the first time I was able to acquire contacts from galleries and meet people interested in my works not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also in their purchase.
